How do you feel when you see groups of Jehovah's Witnesses in the ministry?

how about sadness, sorrow, sympathy, understanding, even compassion!.
it can be quite confusing at times, especially if some of those witnesses were your friends.

I get to see them on their coffee breaks at a little cafe I go to. It is always such an unusual site: Several women of varying ages dressed in tacky or frumpy ill-fitting outfits (whatever happened to the rule about dressing like the "business community") and usually one man, all decked out in a well-tailored (but not expensive) suit, "holding court" with the gals. My friend always says something like, "oh, a field trip from the compound, today, I see..."
I know it's wrong (I mean technically incorrect), but it's still funny as hell when she lets one of her Big Love remarks roll around the elder and his "harem."

wt has overstepped their bounds and passed public judgement on these people declaring them "unfit to be around".. .
these judgements are based on adherance to wt interpretation of scriptures and organizational rules and laws they have devised from this "pick.

The freedom of religion guaranty protects individuals from the government's infringement on religion, and from the government establishing religion (or favoring one over another). There are some extensions within the context of work place and a few other categories. However an individual can shun away. The use of a funeral home would likely fall into the category of privately rented property, though, since someone is always paying for the services and room at the facility.

Think of all the hours and placements they could count...This alone could spike a few congregations' service reports for '08! Such a deal, have 20 or 30 "volunteers" who spent most of their time strolling the rest of the show (and are also able to buy food there, too, I'd guess, maybe even a beer) while counting hour after hour of "publishing."

Spray an oven-safe baking dish and lid with non stick spray: Put in 2 frozen chicken breasts, one bag frozen black-eyed peas, 2 cans beef broth, one chopped onion, (about) 1/2 cup (or so) dry red wine, (about) 2 teaspoon ground thyme, (about) 2 teaspoon garlic salt and ground pepper. Bake at 375-400 for (about) an hour. After an hour (during which you should finish the dry red wine and take a nap), remove chicken, chop it up and return to dish, add (about) 1 cup white rice and bake for another 20-30 minutes. (Best baked on a foil-line cookie sheet to protect oven from splatters, even through the lid.) I guess if defrosted chicken breasts were used, chop the chicken and add rice after 30-35 minutes.
If the ingredients are all on hand (they are in my kitchen) this can get into the oven in about five minutes (chopping the onion being the only real "prep") without a lot of post-prep clean-up. It also gives you a good hour to do other stuff. We serve this stand alone or with bread.
This one warms the belly and the soul, and might possiby bring good

In my local jurisdiction in California, that's called a stipulation-order. They are binding whenever the magistrate says they are, regardless of whether they are signed (lots of California case law on that) or entered by the judge. Here, if one party later refuses to sign a stip-ord, the other party can still have the order entered, after a certain period of time. Is there something similar in New York? I hope so, because challenging the psych-eval is an expensive process for everyone. Thank-goodness for the "best interests of the child" standard.

MY JW mom and my non-JW dad came to dinner in a restaurant for the express purpose of celebrating my birthday. There was cake and singing, and everything. Two weeks later, they accepted an invitation to my husband's surprise birthday party too. I almost feel like creating trouble for my mom, but I won't. Everything is conscience matter. When you do something that is "forbidden," If it bothers your conscience, you confess. If you get caught by someone and it bothers his conscience, then you're sitting in a committee, one way or the other.

it is known by them that i am not truly an apostate (from yhwh and jesus).
i have come to a different conclusion than them after three years of intense activity at the hall.

I DA'ed over 20 years ago. Not once has my mom-a die hard dub- shunned me. Some of it may have to do with the fact that my dad is not a JW. We enjoy meals together (in restaurants and at our homes), take trips, she came to my Jewish wedding and didn't bolt during the prayers (it was all prayers), and we even go shopping in her local small town together (where I actively engage all dubs and ex-dubs we run into in conversations including my mom). I suspect she rationalizes it in two ways. First, that her husband requires that her to maintain her familial relationship with me, and two (this is the biggy that overrides any threats elders and others might make) The interactions were necessary to conduct important family business. I do not think the Watchtower has gone out and defined exactly what family business is, but any definition of it would have to be broad enough to include (even by a stretch) just about any type of familial activity you can think of....Shoshana

I think if you ran tests on students in an elementary school, you might find a direct correlation of the statistics of foot size and intelligence, or so it would appear. I bet Mensa has done some statistic collection on its members. That would not be too hard to track down.
